A nice ARN-6 display at the MRCA meet. We had it operational so that we
could find Gilbert PA.

| >It's an Automatic Radio Direction Finder. or Radio Compass.
|
| Additional info:
|
| It appeared in quantity just after WWII, and I'm sure some were still in
active service more than 30 years later. It was used by all US service
branches and those of Canada as well.
|
| It replaced the late-WWII AN/ARN-7 ADF, which replaced the early- and
mid-WWII SCR-269 ADF. It was replaced by the AN/ARN-59 and AN/ARN-83.
|
| Its frequency coverage is 0.1 to 1.75 MHz, MCW/CW. It requires only 28
vdc power...no HV B+.
|
| It was a very widely used and excellent ADF, although control boxes, loop
cables, and mountings can be pretty hard to find today.
