Hey Breck,

For those of you who want to see the orignal dc-dc inverter Dennis Stark
article I posted many years ago, here is the current link to it:
http://www.qsl.net/w4xe/miltradio/dcdc.htm
The old WB4TUR web site is still up, but is dated now.

I agree with others, for the BC611 the 9 VDC x 10 cell string and D cell
trick is the way to go! I crafted my battery tray out of some left over old
PCB material in an 'I' shape with 5 batteries on each side of the I. Not
nearly as nice as the excellent job Breck does on battery adapters, but it
worked. After sitting idle since its birth, my BC-611 roared to life and
worked perfectly. Amazing after 50-60 years of sitting around collecting
dust!
I got very good sig and audio reports at Dayton. The inexpensive dollar
store 9VDC batteries have lasted far longer than I would have imagined.

For anyone who hasn't already seen this book below, I suggest you take a
look at it. I was lucky to buy an original printed copy. "Power Up" by Dave
Strom "How to make your battery adapters for portable and military radios
and other non-military electronics"
ISBN # 0-939780-22-4. This book is now available to download for free off
the web. Sorry I dont have the link handy, maybe someone else here does.

Subject: [Milsurplus] BC-611 Inverter Photos

Several have asked for photos so I have posted some photos and notes on
my
| BC-611 Inverter based on portions of Dennis Stark's article that I
constructed
| and successfully used for two hamfest seasons before I went over to the
| Dark Side and switched to 9 volt batteries.

The page contains links to Dennis Starks article on a "Universal Power
Supply" which is posted on WB4TUR's, Ralph's pages.
|
| Its one thing to play around on the bench with various circuits but it is
| another task to actually package the circuit and make it fit in the BC-611
| and still be "serviceable"
