Some observations:

-cheapo 9V batteries. Ran a test ages back & found the $ store
Panasonics served as well as drum-bunny units. Test was pull xmt,
   30ma, power @ 9.6V & observe time 'til drop to 9V

It's sed today's Alkalines better than ww2 D-cells. Wonder if true,
anybody w. access to Mr. Peabody's way back machine?

-leave your 9V battery assy in refrig. between outings. Have one set
   that's been to Dayton twice.

-I use 90V. ie 10 9V masking-taped in pairs to paint stick. Connections
via old battery contacts wired to series whole smash. Looks vy neat,
if anyone wishes I'll foto & put it on web

-On 'official' dual-d A bat. Roger the short bug. But
avoided by aligning insulated bar with case slot on install.
No 50 cal spent ammo, so use right length copper tube on 2nd 611.

Do have a spent DL 88, am saving for a really big talkie

 -'611 switches A & B bat.s on antenna retract. Load-sense sw.
   unneedeed

-Inverter freq. @ 60hz. Uhhhh, why? If you run flip-flop ckt. @ 400hz
   you reduce core-size need by roughly 6. And filter cap.s @ 400hz
   trivial size. So a 6vct 300ma xfrmr in chosen ckt. w. 2 more d-cells
for power has once worked here.
          -BUT-
'Flyback' sorta switcher a better size/efficiency choice. RS Tech
used to make a kit which got changed a little to do this - & I think
it's probably the Euro unit's basis. Per Breck, beware hash.

I've heard it sed these neat 611s were better cudgels than radios. And
the roads across Europe were paved with them. Support for this?

Last, anyone revive a BC-611B with the socket 'component rings?' Ouch.
Which brings up that it'd be good to survey Dayton '611 check-ins
for models & s.n.s

And jfor, notion that IRS collects on inflation good 'un. But then you
might charge preservation storage against sales price - but do get ur
acct. to sign the return.

How I sometimes do go on.

  'rm
