Earlier in this thread, people were suggesting the use of a string of 9
V transistor radio batteries. I've done that for my WS 58, and it works
nicely, BUT:

Modern batteries are capable of high short circuit currents. A 90 V
string is easily capable of lighting a 100 Watt light bulb (not for very
long) but you can really get zapped !!  Yeah, I know it ONLY DC, but it
still is very unpleasant.
