Sorry, Hue.  I just couldn't resist.

AN/MRC-20 was one of those late 40's early 50's ad hoc radio sets built up of 
one or more earlier (WW-II mostly but not exclusively) radio sets enclosed in 
some sort of waterproof enclosure and mounted in a Jeep or in a few cases in 
larger vehicles or trucks.  Most included the prime mover (vehicle or trailer) 
as an integral part of the set.

AN/MRC-20 consisted of Power Plant HRU-28A, AN/ARC-3, AN.ARC-8, AN/ARC-27 and 
RC-261 all mounted in a strange looking waterproof cabinet in the back of an 
M38.  The ARC-3 and ARC-27 were pretty much stock.  But the ARC-8 consisted of 
T-47A/ART-13 and R-584/MRC-20.  Also included was a Retransmission Switch 
SA-359/MRC-20 and three moderately odd-ball antennas.  The UHF antenna (or 
optionally the VHF antenna) was mounted on a motor driven telescoping mast that 
would extend to 28'.
