Re airframe vibrations and recording to disc.  The
disc recorders that I've used in USAF in late 40's
and early 50's in fixed communication facilities
used discs made of thin plastic glued to an aluminum
base.  Armed Forces Radio shipped these all over.
The position of the heated cutting stylus is controlled
by a worm gear, (something like an old TXC-1 lead
screw, but faster.)  The groove wouldn't be affected
much by rack vibration and G's, I'd think.   TRIVIA:
There's a litle microscope aimed at the cuting point in
case the operator wanted to monitor it there.   Then
the recorders that used 35 Mm clear plastic tape came
out.  It too, had a cutting stylus.  Then Magnacord (tm)
came along and used convertional audio tape on reels.
