Don't feel bad.  The dingleberry who got mine first,
clipped the TU spring contact points out of the 
transmitter, probably because they're .002% silver.
They're probably still sitting in an old coffee can
on a barn shelf, along with a few other bits and scraps,
waiting for a man who's been dead twenty years to 
"get around" to harvesting the pittance of silver 
in them.  Or to be thrown in the dumpster when his
grandson sells the place.
