Later versions of the R-1051 used a mixture of silicon
transistors and ICs.

Comparing the R-1051 manual with the R-1051H manual
(both available free on the Internet, don't remember
where) shows 2N1225 IF amplifier replaced by 2N2905A,
and 2N1131 audio output replaced also by 2N2905A.

This would be a good way to check how "professional"
designers addressed the issue.
