The main mod for the PRC-47 is to install an RIT control, Details at
http://solo11.abac.com/zorroab1/prc-47%20Frequency.htm

Lots of folks have installed the Collins filter for lower sideband but
unless you get the filter with the same exact characteristics(model number,
batch etc) of the one that is installed you will have to be prepared to
retune the IF stages. This requires an extender for the assembly. Been
there many times and done that. Usually I install the two filters and tune
the IFs for best response between the upper and lower and utilize a small
micro relay conected to contacts on the power switch light control to
control upper and lower sideband. I am working on another mod for a
different injection frequency which will allow the user to just use the
original Collins filter but unfortunately the frequency read out will be 2
kcs off. :-)

| PRC-47 QUESTION
|
| I am considering buying a PRC-47. I would like to hear from any users of
these radios and their experience with the RT. I would also appreciate
hearing comments about modifications and the use of the radio for SSB and CW
operations.
