They probably are mica. Regarding reliability, I would not hold out too much
hope. Most of those mica caps from that vintage have absorbed a lot of
moisture and contaminants making them extremely leaky. In some applications,
that may not matter much, as in a low voltage bypass situation. However, if
they are used to couple stages then it could be very detrimental to receiver
performance as then they will place a positive voltage on the grid of the
tube they are going to. I used to have to replace a lot of those. I still
have some RBA, RBB and RBCs in the basement. - Regards - Mike

I'm working on a very nice RBB-2 and have a question. The set contains
numerous postage-stamp caps with the Solar brand name. The parts list says
they are mica even though some are as high as .01 mfd (10,000 mmfd). Are
they really mica? Are they reliable?
