I noticed that "bug" next to "Hersteller" (manufacturer) on the tag is translated as "nose". I believe that in this case "bug" is one of the many two- and three-letter German military manufacturer codes that were in use the last few years of the war. For example, "byf" was Mauser, "ayf" was Erma, "ac" was Walther, etc. I don't know if there is an easily accessed reference for these anywhere on the net. Anyone know which manufacturer was assigned "bug"?
