I haven't seen a military radio yet that I didn't want to modify, to make it better, to change it to how I think it should have been designed in the first place. Give me a drill, a screwdriver, a soldering iron, and plenty of flux, I'll be a happy camper. Chomp, chomp with the nibbler. rasp, rasp with the file. Hack out that hole for the S-meter that should have been there. How about seperate RF, IF, and Audio gain controls. Why not change that audio output stage from that 6V6 to a pair of 6F6's to really fill the room with that static noise from that speaker cabinet with 16 LS-7 speakers wired in series and parallel comdinations to give me a 600 ohm match for that old modulation transformer I took from an old MD-7. I think it will work OK with the 6F6's. If it doesn't I'll try1625's. GAWD, I love the smell of rosin flux in the morning. It makes me want to jump right up and play the National Anthem on the bagpipes.
