After WW II, a large amount of surplus was put in veterans' hands -
mainly disabled vets - to sell, which lead to the great NYC Radio Row
and other stores around the country.  Only a few exist now - Columbia
and Fair come to mind immediately in electronics - and neither is what
it was 60 years ago.

I'm failing to understand why this isn't done now.  Show a DD-214 or,
better, a VA disability card, and get first dibs by the container.
None of that idiot export crap since we're not the only kid on the
block with the same neat toys and all it does is stifle legitimate
business.  And, hey, I'd share with you guys.  Honest!
