[Milsurplus] BC-348 and BC -224

G'day.... as an aside while on the BC-348 theme.. what was the provenence/use   of 
the  BC-224D look alike  and its heirs and contemporaries..
It is 14 V  of  course  and  omits the  200 - 500kHz band and covers 1.5  to 18 mHz 
in  the  6 bands.
This one has S/N 175  and manufactured by RCA.  ORDER NO. 94 -PHILA - 42.
