Hello List!
Well, after waiting patiently for a long time (which I'm not good at),
a CU-1388/FLR-7 multicoupler came up for sale on eBay and I snapped it
up. I'd been looking for one for a long time mostly for the FLR-7
connection and my interest in it, and I believe I'd posted to this
list looking for one.
fairly understandably, there doesn't seem to be much documentation
around on these things. While operation seems pretty straightforward,
there are a few things that have me scratching my head. For instance,
a knob on the front to select VDC1,VDC2, VDC3, A3, A4, A6 or A7..
which are obviously emission types, but I'm a bit unclear on the
function.. I was under the impression the coupler was essentially a
very wide band amplifier, but the selection knob implies some sort of
bandwidth switching. I'm sure this is painfully obvious to someone and
I'm going to feel stupid for asking, but ask I have. There is also and
"input test connector" thats covered, I'm assuming so a signal could
be injected into the unit for tests without disconnecting the other
connections.
If anyone has any information on the unit they could share, I'd love
to hear it. When I get my grubby hands on it I'm sure I'll be able to
figure it out, but why reinvent the wheel if I don't have to. The plan
is to put it into service feeding my various receivers, but I'd
eventually like to put it in a rack with a pair of R-390s.
Looks like I should start buying stock in C connector manufacturers.
