The dynamotor in the DY-88 power supply used with the GRC-9 will operate on
three (3) different input voltages. One 12 and two 6 volt motor windings are
included on the armature (three separate commutators and six brushes). For 6
volt operation, one of the 6 volt motors is activated. The two 6 volt
motors are run in series for 12 volt input, and the 12 volt motor is connected in
series with these for 24 volt input. When running on 6 volts, the second 6
volt motor operates as a generator in series with the first motor to provide
a total of 12 volts to the shunt field. Two series field windings are also
involved (circuit diagram available on request).
