Hue,

Not quite sure what you mean by "whittle it down." In a vehicular setup
no problem using the lighter MS-116-A, MS-117-A and MS-118-A along with Mast
Base MP-65-A. If you want to run the setup with the antenna mounted on the
side of the BC654, the lighter mast sections could be used along with a GRC-9
base mount (I forget the number) but the opening in the upper mounting lug on the
side of the cabinet would have to be enlarged a bit to accommodate this.

Regarding the FM-41 frame, nice small footprint but the setup is a bit tall
with the radio in place. At Ft, Macarthur we have a Dodge 3/4 ton staff car
with an SCR-284 installed. Someone back along the way sawed the frame in half
and now the dynamotor and the radio are located side by side behind the front
seat. Nice low profile but I wouldn't recommend mutilating another FM-41
like that.
