[Milsurplus] SCR-284 questions

The vehicle frame, FM-41, was it part of the SCR-284 set, or supplied
FOR the SCR-284, as part of the vehicle?
Why were the antenna sections of the BC-654 so robust, compared
with the later antenna for the GRC-9 ?
I find myself with apparently all the components of the SCR-284, but
am trying to decide if i can whittle it down to a smaller installation.
