OK. This is BS. Just as there was no good reason (i.e., no excuse that a
contracting officer might have gotten away with) for the Air Force to buy custom
built AC supplies for BC-348's when plenty of BC-342's were available, there
was no excuse that would have survived their Courts Martial for buying custom
made AC supplies for the R-648/ARR-41.
There were simply too many equivalent size, weight and performance
alternatives available either already in the inventory or at civilian prices on the
commercial market. But if anyone in the Air Force or Navy had spent my Father's
tax dollars on building such a supply, I would want them prosecuted today.
There is no statute of limitations on stupidity.
