Hi Jim,
The R-105/ARR-15 is quite a different beast than R-648/ARR-41, but it does sound like you got a good deal. For some reason, when hams get ahold of the R-105, the X bracket seems to disappear as quickly as screws in a command set transmitter.
I've seen some discussions in the past about mating a T-47 or T-47A/ART-13 with the AN/ARR-41, but the AN/ARR-41 has no provision for muting on transmit, as has the R-105 or BC-348. The correct units to use in the USN combo known as the AN/ARC-25 is a T-47 (not A or B) and O-16 (not O-17) with a R-105 or -105A. The AN/ARR-41 is the auxillary receiver that was usually installed with the system that replaced the AN/ARC-25, the AN/ARC-38 and -38A.

I got my first R-105/ARR-15 through US Navy MARS in 1969. I used it with an old Elmac AF-67 to check into MARS nets (using Morse) from my college dormitory. It copied SSB well, and it was very easy to quickly set within 1 kc of any frequency in its range. I kept it completely stock, running from 28 vdc, except for adding a tubular electrolytic to filter the dynamotor HV supply a bit. I've still got it.
I have since added a R-105A and the MT-461/ARR-15 mount and C-733A/ARR-15 remote control panel for my AN/ARC-25 setup. The mount and control panel seem to be the rarest of the rare. Oddly, the R-105 can not be switched between MCW and CW mode remotely.
I like the USAAF AN/ARC-8 (T-47A, BC-348) combo better than the USN AN/ARC-25 (T-47, R-105) combo.

I remember seeing you leaving the "Dixiefest" with that. I didn't know it was you, though. I don't guess they ever got around to finding a place to hold the 2006 Dixiefest.
