Do you mean by "current" scopes, models such as TEK 465 and later?
Or the old tube monsters?
If the former, that's a  waste of resources, but they're hardly rare or
collectible, and probably never will be, except maybe to retain an example or
two for a "history of scopes" display. 
If the latter, maybe a few examples should be retained somewhere in a display
also,  but very, very  few people find these huge tube scopes have the allure
of  historical associations  that make  them interesting, desirable  collectibles.
So i don't understand your scope example.
