Another example I have is in a collection of WW2 aircraft videos, one on
the P-38 that follows operations of a photo recon squadron and during
preflight operations their are a couple shots of a full set of ARC-5
radios attach to a board being used in the opps tent, they appear to
have been something just throw together for local use on the ramp.
before the hair splitters start up I don't remember if the ARC-5 was
just the navy designation so I would say that the proper term for the
P-38 would be the SCR-274 but I tend to call all the series of receivers
and transmitters arc fives.
