Hi All,

I will be out in Phoenix in a few days, just wondering if any green radio places are still out there?

Thanks,

Subject: Re: [Milsurplus] fix for GRR-5 rectifier problems?

Mike,

The rectifiers that the guy at gilbert was talking about would probably be
the single plate seleniums (CR-102) mounted in the bottom of the case. The fix
is to disconnect the leads to these rectifiers at the lower wiring harness
connector and install silicon replacements from those same terminals (pins 2 & 4)
to ground (pin 10) inside of the PP-308. The most conveniently mounted
replacement will be a bridge, using only the back half (leave the "+" lead or
terminal floating). There is also a bridge rectifier inside the PP-308 (CR-102)
which can be replaced with another of the same type bridge rectifier.

After the mod, turn the filament adjust resistor fully CCW before starting to
test.

The other thing you may encounter will be either or both vibrators failing to
run. This can usually be fixed with the 25 watt lamp and AC line method.
