[Milsurplus] PU-18/A ???

CAY is Westinghouse. Bendix is CRR.

My understanding is that Naval aircraft of the period when the ASB was in
service had an engine driven 800 CPS generator, not an inverter. Just as they
had 24 VDC generators. Mike?

On another subject, many people seem to think that sets like ASB-5, GP-7 and
GO-9 are unique. Meaning that for example GP-7 was the only one built. This
is probably a consequence of them all being the final production models, and
many never getting issued. The Navy, unlike the AAF, appears to have scrapped
most of its avionics with the airframes. Had they scrapped instead of
mothballed most of the fleet at the end of the war, the same thing would have
probably happened to shipboard sets.

But for example GP-7 was only the ninth order in a series of GP's (there was
a GP-6a). I don't know the production history of the ASB but am sure it was
similar. Some model numbers are identical to the earlier or later one and some
aren't. A better example would be the TCS or the LM (16 and 22 model numbers
respectively). In the TCS line, from TCS to TCS-15 there were only about
four significant changes made (other than minor differences like wire insulation
due to different contractors).
