Or maybe just testing the water? It's easy enough to list something
and see what the prevailing winds will bring, then cancel it just
before it ends. Probably easier and cheaper than trying to get someone
to appraise it.

Of course, ending early even by minutes denies the seller any possible
snipe bids, which tend to be more telling.
