Perhaps the red and green tagged RU/GF pairs were a short lived Marine
Corps or Reserves thing? Every so often the Marine Corps did there own
thing regardless of the rest of the Navy, like their special numbers
for tubes back in the mid 1930s (and now exceedingly rare).

Orange tags on Navy stuff from the 1950s usually indicates a top level
nomenclature in the hierarchy of a unit. Usually this meant the tag
with the AN/whatever was orange, but all the R-whatevers and
C-whatevers associated with it were black.
