Larry,
The TS-585(*) is a dummy load audio output power or level meter. I have a
couple and use them regularly. The switch that selects the different ohm values
puts that load across the input. If you hang it across a 3.2 or 4 ohm
speaker output, you will get very little change in the meter reading over the full
range of the switch because the difference in load between 3.2 ohms in parallel
with a few hundred ohms and in parallel with a few thousand ohms is
negligable. However, if you put it across the 4000 ohm output of a BC-342, 348 or 454
and then crank it down to the bottom or even only down to 600, you will see a
big drop.
