Today I re-built a Micamold! Using a Dremel cutting
wheel, cut around the perimeter of the Micamold
capacitor. If the cutting wheel doesn't penetrate
right through, cut the rest of the way with a mini
hacksaw blade. Using the Dremel cutting wheel, grind
away the inside of both halves of the Micamold so that
the new capacitor will fit inside. I used a high
voltag disc ceramic as a replacement. Make sure the
two halves fit neatly together with the new capacitor
inside, then glue the whole assembly together with
high strength araldite ( five minute araldite is no
good, it is not as good a dielectric & will not handle
the heat from soldering as well) The finished
capacitor can the be unclamped & re-soldered in place!
Anyone got some Micamolds they want to get rid of?
Regards, Brad
