Hmmm... Interesting. Hadn't noticed a trend. All the Micamolds in my
1939 BC-342A were bad, same as in my 1944 M model (and BC-348K). Had to
replace all the caps in my 44 SCR-522 receiver as well. They looked like micas,
the parts list called them out as micas but when I busted a couple open they
sure were papers! Wartime expediency or fraud maybe? Anyway, go figure....
The GRC-9 radios used brown colored Micamolds up into 50's production. Have
had to replace several of these in my three units and others here on the West
Coast in recent years. Later production situation here than most of the WW2
stuff but the same problems seem to be developing.
