This seems to say that someone still wanted it pretty badly, or wanted
it to appear so. I agree with Robert, there really isn't any reason to
enter an incorrect bid and not notice that you're the high bidder at
$400+ when you intended to bid only $19, other than perhaps being out
of town and away from the computer for an extended time. Curious why
the second bidder decided he didn't want it after bidding it up. I bet
if ebay actually started penalizing people like bidder #2 (who has no
excuse by the looks), you'd see a reduction in huge bids. Which is why
they probably don't.

As pointed out, these mics were designed to perform a certain way in a
very difficult environment. Compared to casual speech on the air
today, they do sound crappy. But they were meant to work, not sound
good. I think this is partly why so many were surprised at the price,
that along with the availability.

The guy who had the $100 version listed died shortly after it was
listed, so chances are it's not available for the time being.
