Gentlemen, take it from someone who spent half
his working life in Navigational Aids with USAF;
Beacons ain't Ranges, and Ranges ain't Beacons,
non-directional or otherwise.  Beacons are Aerophares,
(look that up in ICAO books),  Ranges are "Four-Course
Low Frequency Radio Ranges".   All the LF Beacons
I ever saw were NDB, meaning they radiated equally
poor in all directions.
