The radio "motor boated" when using Manual Gain Control while aligning
it. Replaced all the paper caps, except these .5uf.
Checked and replaced about 1/2 of the resistors, were out of spec. I
suspect that at least one the metal cans is bad.
Thanks. So CAPS in metal cans have been replaced.
Mark the caps and their placement. Go outside. Bolt caps to scrap of
wood 2X4; place over a container; remove solder using a heavy
soldering Iron with an ACID brush; watch out for the oil. If the
insulators burn off then use RED RTV to rebuild them.
Sean: "I used an acid brush to remove the solder."
What is an acid brush? I have Brass brushes and Steel brushes. Have
solder wick.
Any way looks like a production, do one do them all.
