Group,
I recently acquired a few pages copied from Emergency Rescue Manual 64-1,
"Survival on the Ice Cap, Cold Seas, Sea Ice of the Northeast Area", Headquarters
Eighth Air Force, 15 September 1959. Paragraph 5 (Survival Kits) lists
aircraft types versus survival equipment each was supposed to carry. Aircraft
listed to carry RS-6 are:
R/RB-47E
B-47 ECM
RB-47E
B-52
RB-52
I don't know what the difference is between the first and second listing of
the RB-47E but the list shows crew of 3 in the first case and 6 in the second.
Some old Blue Suiter can probably explain.
Paragraph 6 (Emergency Radio Kits) Subparagraph a says RS-6 will be carried
on all aircraft of types indicated when maneuvering outside the ZI. Paragraph
6b covers AN/URC-4.
(ZI is Zone of the Interior)
More to follow when I figure out what I did with the other document...
