An alternate source of heavy gauge power wiring
that resists corrosion and is flexible is from "marine"
suppliers. The individual conductors are tinned to
meet marine specs and they are usually quite a
bit more flexible than what you find elsewhere.
Newest guidelines/codes for marine DC wiring
specify RED for positive and YELLOW for negative.
This is for duplex wire at least. The high current
stuff is still univerally RED and BLACK. I don't
know if this going to be changed in the future.
ANCOR seems to be the most common maker.
These folks also make various splices, terminals,
connectors and splices for marine use. Some
varieties are also highly water resistant. They
also have some of the best terminal crimpers
you can find.
West Marine and Boaters' World are two major
outlets.
The YELLOW for DC negative has to do with
making an obvious difference between AC and
DC circuits.
