[Milsurplus] But wait! That's not all

It's not just a southern thing. Many older homes in the northeast
(pre-1900) had shallow dirt basements and/or crawl spaces. The nicer
places had laid up stone walls or granite blocks. I was thinking the
same thing as Jay because the crawl space under my radio room is just
about big enough for me to crawl into, flat. If I need to roll over,
it requires getting between the floor joists. One area even has an old
stump remaining where they just cut the tree down and built over it.
Can't begin to imagine storing anything under there, muchless mil
radio gear! Thankfully the majority of the house has a basement
beneath.
And those fiddlebacks are *everywhere*. Cats used to eat them, then
puke them back up. Figured it must be nasty stuff because cats can eat
about anything. I squash 'em every chance I get (the spiders). Check
your old/unused gear well, because they love protected/sheltered
areas.
