Fair Radio had their annual "Lima Trunk Sale" today. Being that I had to
be in Dayton on Thursday anyway I decided to drive up I-75 to Lima and
see the sale. The web page promotes it as being both them and anyone
else who would chose to set up in their parking lot but I saw no one
else selling in the lot when I got their at around twelve thirty, also
the weather in the local area has been spotty rain and that may have had
a effect.
Having not been their before I have to admit that I was suppressed to
see the size of the place. It appears that they have set up business in
an old lumber yard or home improvement store with the front of the store
being many rows of all assortments of military radios. The cleanest and
best being their. There is also a side room with a collection of antique
radios and televisions and a very large back room about twice the size
of the front with many rows of radio stacked to the ceiling. It would be
very difficult to see everything in one day. I was impressed by the
large number of parts radios that were located in the back. Large
quantities of ARC-5 sets, ART-13 transmitters, BC-348 carcasses and
almost anything else you may need parts from. I have started to get into
collecting "cold war" radios and ended up buying a 618S1/ARC-38 along
with the matching head, their were lots of the RT-618 and ARC series
radios their along with tons of accessories. Their was a good turnout of
people their with their parking lot being about half full when I got
their. Was surprised to see the number of Japanese that were their
buying things. Would think that if you plan to attend Dayton next year
consider planning coming early and going to their sale.
