Last weekend the West Coast Military Collector's Group had the 11th annual
get-together at Camp San Luis Obispo CA. As usual there were equipment
displays, presentations on equipment/restoration/history, a Tri-Tip BBQ, the
Saturday morning swapmeet, and folks operating various radios. My kind of
weekend! It was fun to see folks again and meet some new ones. I set up a
Grc-9 outside and a GRC-109A inside the NCO Club we use as a meeting place.
The GRC-9 worked into the 'pop-bead' inverted L and the 109 just had a
random wire strung out a window. The swap was not as big as last year but
that varries from year to year anyway. There was a lot of command sets,
BC-375s, GRC-9s, parts and newer green gear too but I look mostly for the
WWII-'50s stuff. An ARC-3 dynamotor I was looking for was missed by seconds
but it went to a good home, I did get the connectors. Though not military
one seller had a near perfect HQ-150 for $225. Allin all it was a great
weekend with folks operating on 75 AM, 80 and 40 CW. We will do it again
next year and will try some operating events in between.
