He forgot that back then it was TH for Territory of Hawaii.  I don't think HI came along until Zip Codes, which were, what, 1960s?

What is the piant mark anyway?  I've never gotten into those markings, except for the dozen or more that San Antonio Air Material Area in all its forms and disguises used over the millenia.
