You guys really want to get in touch with the re-enactors, start a WWII reenacting unit that's a signals repair unit or a signals relay or some other kind of unit. Show up to events with spare gear you can part with or sell. Show up and help us get our PRCs, WS and other gear working. I'll tell you that when I show to an event, just getting the 60 year old vehicle to behave can take all my time, trying to tear the guts out of a WS19 to get the intercom and B set working would be an even greater chore with out the support from folks that knew WS19s inside and out.
I'm in a vehicle specialist unit, if someone were to show up wanting to do a WWII British Signals unit, we'd give them a special place and help them with the vehicle side of things and even help hook you up with vehicle kit, uniforms, side arms, etc. A lot of us have spare wireless set gear squirreled away in our collections knowing we'll need it, but unsure of how and when. One fellow I know has 3 ws19s, 5 control boxes, 2 antenna masts, interconnection cables, ATUs and other parts and hasn't had time or help to get them up and useful.
We go to the CBs in the field because we don't have the time to get the other stuff working in the field. If we could have a useful Signals workshop at events to get our WS19s all working with a centralized tube testing facility and such, we'd be able to make it all go faster because of collective resources.
