(V) = variable configuration. The end item, the AN/GLR-9 in this case, 
can have various quantities/types of individual components, such as 
receivers, antennas, etc.

That's "if I remember correctly", I've been retired from AFCC for 18 
years now and the memories are increasingly fuzzy...
