Hi Mike,
My ATD has the following frequency ranges:540-1500kc,1500-3000kc,and two 3000-9050kc tuning units.
The contract is NOs 73237, May 20,1940 and it is Bendix s/n 1285.
This one is immaculate and has the mounts, dynamotor and all the connectors and spares.I'm almost afraid to cable it up and apply power!
Jay

Does that mean you've come across one of the rare LF/MF tuning units for the ATD?
My ATD has the external LF/MF antenna coil, but no tuning section for the frequencies covered by the antenna coil. One would have supposed that the LF/MF tuning unit would have been standard, rather than the oddball .54 to 1.5 tuning unit.
It's just another sign that the ATD likely saw almost no active service, which is a shame. Technology- and capability-wise, I think the ATD pairs up with the ARB receiver much better than does the ATC.
The Navy never had a receiver that matched the capability of the ATC/ART-13. Even the later AN/ARR-15 had no LF/MF capability that matched the O-16/ART-13, nor could receiver mode be selected remotely.
