Seems to me I've never come across an ATD /without/ the 200-540kHz 
tuner, but it may be another one of the east coast anomalies.  Mine has 
one - http://aafradio.org/flightdeck/ATD.jpg - but the one I would 
really like to find someday is the 9.05-18MHz unit.  I was beginning to 
believe it was simply a catalog fantasy, but Michael Tauson told me he 
had seen one in the flesh, so they are still out there somewhere.

That's an interesting perspective, Mike.  Could you elaborate a bit on 
the factors you considered in that assessment?  Not saying you're wrong, 
just curious based on what I see in the technology in the two 
transmitters.  I suppose that if you approach it from a mediocrity vs 
mediocrity standpoint, they are indeed appropriate matches.  (running 
and ducking...<g>)

That's a good observation.  I wonder how much the trend toward separate 
nav receivers influenced the capabilities selection in the ARR-15?  
Sometimes you are simply a slave to the latest requirements coming from 
the customer.  We'll probably read about a prototype ARR-15 with a MF 
band someday, found in a Cedar Rapids attic...  :-)
