Seems to me I've never come across an ATD /without/ the 200-540kHz
tuner, but it may be another one of the east coast anomalies. Mine has
one - http://aafradio.org/flightdeck/ATD.jpg - but the one I would
really like to find someday is the 9.05-18MHz unit. I was beginning to
believe it was simply a catalog fantasy, but Michael Tauson told me he
had seen one in the flesh, so they are still out there somewhere.

That's an interesting perspective, Mike. Could you elaborate a bit on
the factors you considered in that assessment? Not saying you're wrong,
just curious based on what I see in the technology in the two
transmitters. I suppose that if you approach it from a mediocrity vs
mediocrity standpoint, they are indeed appropriate matches. (running
and ducking...<g>)

That's a good observation. I wonder how much the trend toward separate
nav receivers influenced the capabilities selection in the ARR-15?
Sometimes you are simply a slave to the latest requirements coming from
the customer. We'll probably read about a prototype ARR-15 with a MF
band someday, found in a Cedar Rapids attic... :-)
