As for automated landings, the big guys have been doing that for
years. Category II and III approaches have to be flown with
the couple autopilot systems, the pilots are simply along for the
ride, monitoring.
Category IIIc approaches are to zero visibility, and they use the
same localizer and glide slope technology.
