Collins built some really nice (wasn't it all?) single channel HF AM
receivers (or maybe I should say fixed frequency crystal controlled)
back in the 40s and 50s, and that is what I was fishing for. I have
examples of Link, Kaar, Motorola, and some other oddballs, and would
like to add one of the (rare) Collins to the collection, but I
haven't looked at the nomenclature in a long, long time. Went with
the 32RA transmitters, I think.
BTW, Kaar seemed to have developed the best noise balanced squelch
circuitry back in those days. Morrow did also in their mobile ham
gear, but to my knowledge never built any fixed frequency station
receivers using the technology. Anyone know otherwise?
