Joe,

Input impedance for the LS-3 is 8000 ohms.  If you can wait a few weeks I
can 
supply you with a replacement.  I'm waiting on K5JV to get his trailer 
emptied and have time to help me move the last batch which includes some
external 
junkers.  (As an aside, I test all of the LS-3's that I sell.)   If you have
a 
late model BC-342 or BC-348 and it is wired Lo-Z, you can also use a common 
500/600 ohm line to VC transformer.

To answer your last question, I wasn't aware of ithis until recently but 
apparently after the War, LS-3 and LS-7 matching transformers were somewhat
sought 
after for use as plate to voice coil transformers in home-brew receivers.  
I'm in the same boat with several otherwise good LS-7's here.
