Interesting article. The ARRL needs to ditch that web link "SCR-274-N" that goes to some Japanese web site, though. The picture there shows one SCR-274-N transmitter and one SCR-274-N receiver, both in a FT-226 transmitter rack. No BC-450-A is included. In all, a really really bad representation of an SCR-274-N installation.

Speaking of that, has anyone seen the article on the BC-669 in the May 2006 Electric Radio? It has some interesting historical tidbits, but....
HORRORS! For the article, a complete, somewhat dirty but intact, unmodified BC-669 was turned into a worthless ham-hack job with modifications that included replacing the mic connector and the power connector (with an octal socket). Gee, just like hams did 60 years ago!
That kind of ham nostalgia I don't need to see. There can be no justification for hacking up something like a BC-699 (of marginal ham utility under the best of conditions, even 60 years ago) just to get it on the air. I though most boatanchor types had moved beyond that, but that article proves how wrong I was.
Maybe soon we'll see ER run an article about converting a T-17/ARC-5 to 160m DSB, or a T-47/ART-13 to 10m SSB!
