Great news on getting spark back. That's a major step forward.

As far as the fuel leaking out of the carb, this is likely due to a
gummed up carb and should be taken care of with a good cleaning. I
have the same issue with an old lawn tractor I have that sat unused
for a couple of years. Carb was replaced, so it's still virtually new.
I can dump fuel into the top and it starts and runs, but dies out
quickly. It also drips at the bottom.
