Ah! That is a SUPERB gen set. As I said, you can get every part you
need for the engine of that thing from a farm supply company. I even
found a brand new distributor, carburetor, water pump, and a starter
motor with adapter for the one I rebuilt a few years ago.
The PE-95 "motors" the generator with two HUGE 6 VDC batteries in
series to start it. Although it is silent, it draws an incredible amount of
current when it does.
I modified the one I restored for a 12 VDC a regular starter motor with a
starter solenoid wired to the normal push-button start switch. The
generator is already set up to charge a 12 V battery.
BTW, when I started on this thing, it only had 12 hours total on the
running time meter. It must have sat unused for at least 10 years before
I got to it.
Lastly, as I remember it, the generator of the PE-95 can be wired for
240 VAC single-phase output. The wiring for the generator internal
connections can be easily gotten to and it is a matter of figuring out
which wires do what and connecting them properly.
It is a very versatile and reliable gen set. I wish I had one, although they
aren't particulary efficient on fuel use.
