Oops. Then you have a problem. The 6-pin vibrator in the PP-308 is
moderately available. The 4-pin has for the past several years been unobtanium.
In case anyone has any and don't know it, here are the numbers I know of that
may be on the vibrator:
3H6691-15 (SIG STK NR)
6130-235-1000 (FSN)
6556 (Oak)
V-6556 (Oak)
VB-1001 (Oak)
C-3020 (Jameson)
190G3001 (Oak)
There may be others.
Lacking that, AA1P wrote an article for ER some years ago on the AN/GRC-9 in
which he shows a simple bi-polar transistor replacement for the vibrator in
the DY-105. I have a copy of the pages scanned but none of them identify the
month or year (or ER for that matter). The basic approach should work in the
PP-308 (the 1N4005's are already present in the PP-308, in the form of selenium
diodes, which I recommend you replace with silicon's in any case - they are
probably bad by now). Component values (two resistors and a capacitor) may need
adjusting in order to get it to run at around 100-115 CPS.
