Good evening Mac,

"Trailer" is actually a misnomer. The FPN-16 is housed in a shelter that 
does not have permanently attached running gear. It was not intended to 
be mobile like its near cousins, the MPN-11 and MPN-13. The FPN-16 was 
the Precision Approach Radar (PAR) portion of a Radar Approach Control 
(RAPCON) facility. Part of a "GCA" system in other words. The FPN-16 was 
permanently installed at one end of the runway or, if the base had two 
runways, it was installed on a turntable at the apex of the two runways 
so the shelter could be rotated to provide coverage to whichever runway 
was active at the time.

BTW, the shelter was of panelized construction so it could be 
disassembled for transport in the smaller aircraft of its day.

I used to install and maintain the suckers about 50 years ago...
